It’s my first tutorial, I hope you like it :) I tried to explain how you can change a background in a picture

image

Okay, first of all you need to know that I don’t use the english-version of gimp, so the words on the pictures are in german. But the arrangement is the same in both versions, and I tried to translate the words :)

If you don’t know gimp: its a graphic-programme like photoshop but it’s for free, you can download it here: http://gimp.en.softonic.com/

———————————————————————————————

so I used this pictureimage

and than I opened it with gimp 2.6

you should see this:

In this tutorial you don’t need the layers

If you are missing something:

windows > dockable dialogs (or something like this, I only have the german version) > layers (etc.)

2. choose the magnifying glass

image

3. zoom zoom zoom (click on the picture)

image

4. now, use this tool

choose the selection-tool

5.

click arround the whole body that you want to cut out (1 time) when you have finished, click on the ‘point’ where you’ve started. Here is a bigger picture:

6. it should look like this (with the white/black line around the part that you want to use) :

7. click the right computer-mouse-button and do the following (edit    cut) :

image

8. then you need to open the background that you want to use with gimp I choosed this one, its a simple texture that I’ve found on deviantart.com :image

9. after you’ve opened your background, you have to do this (right mouse-click):

image

(edit    insert as  new layer)

Important: do not choose ‘insert’ it’s ‘insert as

10. choose this tool:

image

10. now you can move your object:

image

11: After you’ve placed your object. Push ‘STRG’ and ‘M’ at the same time and then this should arrive:

image

12. make sure that you choose the middle option, (and click on the field that is blue in my picture)

13. use this tool… :

image

14. …and mark the part of the picture that you want

in my example:

15. save your picture ( as ‘yourpicturename.png or .jpg )

——————————————————————————————————————-

That’s it! I hope I could help you. There are more options to change the background but that is  the simplest :)
